Privacy Policy
Last Updated: February 7, 2025
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information Filtyr collects from business customers and users ("you" or "your") of our AI moderation platform and website, how we use and share that information, and the rights and choices you have regarding your personal information. This Policy is incorporated into our Terms of Service above. By using Filtyr's Service or website, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to information that Helios Indie Labs LLC d/b/a Filtyr ("Filtyr", "we", "us", or "our") collects through:
- Our website and web application (the Filtyr dashboard or any web pages under the filtyr.com domain).
- Our API and moderation platform when you (as a registered customer) send data for content moderation.
- Your communications with us (such as emails or support requests).
It describes how we handle personal information of our customers (typically employees or representatives of businesses using Filtyr) and any personal data that may be included in the content our customers submit for moderation. It does not cover any third-party websites or services that you may integrate with Filtyr on your own; those are governed by their own privacy policies.
2. Information We Collect
We collect two general categories of information: (A) information you provide to us directly, and (B) information we collect automatically when you use our Service.
A. Information You Provide
Account Registration Information
When you sign up for a Filtyr account, we (through our authentication partner) collect personal information such as your name, email address, password, and any other details required for account creation. We use Clerk for authentication, so some of this information is processed by Clerk on our behalf (see Section 5 on Third-Party Services). You may also provide contact information such as a company name, job title, mailing address, or phone number, for billing or support purposes.
Payment Information
If you purchase a subscription or credits, our third-party payment processor will collect payment information (such as your credit card number, billing address, etc.) to process the transaction. Filtyr itself generally does not store your full payment card details; that is handled by the payment processor (e.g., Stripe or Paddle) in compliance with PCI-DSS standards. We will retain records of your purchases, amounts paid, and your subscription or credit balances.
Content Submitted for Moderation
In the course of using our API or platform, you will send us data (which could include text, images, or other content, depending on what our Service supports) to be analyzed by our AI moderation algorithms. We collect and process the content you submit because it is necessary to perform the moderation service. This content may include personal information or sensitive material, depending on what you choose to send.
Communications and Support
If you contact us directly (via email, contact form, or support chat), we will receive your name, email, and the contents of your message. We will keep a record of our correspondence with you. If you participate in any surveys, beta programs, or provide feedback, we collect any information you choose to provide in those contexts as well.
B. Information Collected Automatically
Usage Data and Logs
When you use the Filtyr API or dashboard, our systems automatically record certain technical information. This may include details like:
- Log information: timestamps of requests, IP addresses, client devices, endpoints, and processing details.
- Device and browser data: device type, operating system, browser type and version.
- Usage metrics: API call counts, data processing volume, and aggregate usage metrics.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our website and dashboard may use cookies or similar tracking technologies to provide and improve the web experience. For example, cookies may be used to keep you logged in or remember your preferences. We may also use cookies for basic analytics. Filtyr does not use cookies for advertising purposes.
Third-Party Analytics
We use Vercel's built-in analytics and performance monitoring for our hosted application. This means that when you visit our web interface, Vercel's systems may automatically collect analytics data such as page load times, errors, and user interactions in aggregate form.
3. How We Use Your Information
Filtyr uses the collected information for the following purposes, all in accordance with applicable law:
Providing the Service
First and foremost, we use the information you provide (especially the content you submit for moderation and your account data) to deliver the AI moderation results to you. For example, our systems will analyze the text or content you send and generate a moderation verdict or score.
Operating and Improving the Platform
We use data about how you and your users interact with Filtyr to debug, optimize, and enhance our Service. This includes analyzing logs and usage patterns to improve processing speed, accuracy of the AI models, and user interface experience.
Account Management and Support
We use your contact information to manage your account and relationship with Filtyr. This includes sending administrative emails or messages for account verification, billing, service updates, and customer support.
Security and Abuse Prevention
Information is used to monitor for fraudulent, harmful, or unauthorized use of the Service. This helps us detect abuse and ensure the integrity and security of the platform.
4. How We Share and Disclose Information
Filtyr respects the confidentiality of your information. We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own marketing or other purposes. We share information in the following circumstances:
With Service Providers
We share data with third-party service providers that perform functions on our behalf to operate Filtyr. These include hosting providers, database services, authentication providers, and payment processors.
For Legal Reasons
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with legal obligations or protect our rights.
